Frequently Asked Questions
Savings
About the savings to be gained from using LED technology
- There are several economic advantages of having LED lighting over conventional sources:
- the operational and maintenance costs of LED are significantly lower, because LEDs having a longer life, because LEDs need to be replaced less frequently, and so your business spends less on new lamps and the labour required to change them. (Note: with our finance agreement, the initial installation cost as well as the actual lighting cost, is included).
- LEDs consume less energy; thus the overall cost of a LED system can be significantly lower than that of conventional lighting systems.
- Lastly, because LEDs produce less heat than conventional lights, there is significantly less degradation to the surrounding fittings and wiring, further decreasing the maintenance costs.
For an example of how this can be financed with no up-front capital and make savings from day 1,
see this example here (opens in new window).
Installation times will vary depending on your requirements, but typically we expect to be on-site for one working day.
All our standard lighting comes with a standard, 5 year guarantee. For some more specialist ligthing (eg, floodlights), this can be longer. For details, please do contact us.
- We make a record of the type and number of light fittings you have in each area of your facility/facilities
- For existing specialist lighting, we’ll sometimes take photographs of the light fittings, record their power ratings, and any other unique features that might be relevant
- We’ll take details of your current energy tariff(s), to enable us to calculate your current lighting spend
- We’ll make a note of your operating hours (including times when cleaners might use lighting). Please also tell us about any lighting that’s outside these periods (either significantly more, or significantly less).
- Once we have all the above, we’ll prepare a detailed survey report which will give you the net savings for having your lighting upgraded.
Remember: there is no up-front capital required to finance the upgrade, and we will only recommend proceeding if the monthly savings from using LEDs outweighs the financing cost.
It’s a simple 3-step process:
- We perform a site-survey, which helps us determine how much your current lighting contributes to your annual electric consumption
- You receive a detailed report which demonstrates the savings from us installing LEDs at no up-front cost, along with the finance agreement
- Based on the monthly savings (net the finance agreement), you assess whether or not you want to go ahead.
Simple answer: it makes financial sense for us, and for every business that wants to benefit from the easiest way to reduce their energy spend with no up-front capital.
This is not an exhaustive list – but it illustrates the obvious point that if your business has significant lighting requirements, you are best suited for benefiting from making the switch to LED lighting. Please do contact us to see how we can best serve your specific situation.

No. You can have a shorter period, or even pay the capital up-front if you prefer. We will be in conversation to discuss options with you once the site survey has been completed.
From doing 78 surveys during the month of January (2018), we’ve demonstrated an average of 80% savings on the lighting costs. Obviously, individual figures depend on the amount of lighting being used. We perform a comprehensive site survey that will demonstrate the savings from using LEDs compared with your current lighting set-up.
The whole unit, as older fittings sometimes use more energy to re-start the light than to actually run.

About the LEDs
In short – yes. If you have dimmable lamps already in place, we will make a note of these in the site survey.
No – we will fit the brightness equivalent (in lumens) to your current requirements. The big advantage of LED lamps is that they will use significantly less energy for the same brightness, and will last much longer, additionally reducing your lighting running costs.
In the vast majority of cases, yes, we will be able to fit LED equivalent lamps into your existing fixtures. Please contact us for specific enquiries.
No – LEDs contain no mercury (unlike fluorescent fittings, which have about 8 milligrams of mercury per tube).
The short answer: total operational cost over an LED lamp’s lifespan is significantly lower than its fluorescent counterpart; see the following illustration for a typical comparison between conventional, fluorescent & LED lighting:
Halogen | Fluorescent | LED | |
Approximate cost per bulb | £1 | £1 | £5 or less |
Average lifespan | 1,200 hours | 8,000 hours | 25,000 hours |
Watts used | 60W | 15W | 10W |
No. of bulbs needed for 25,000 hours of use | 21 | 3 | 1 |
Total purchase price of bulbs over 20 years | £21 | £3 | £5 |
Total cost of electricity used (25,000 hours at £0.15 per kWh) | £180 | £42 | £30 |
Total operational cost over 20 years | £225 | £56 | £38 |
How Much Could Your Business Save?
The above illustration shows the savings from just one bulb.
Consider the total number of lights in your premises — some fixtures use 3 or even 4 lamps/tubes, for example. If you replaced 20 such fittings with LED light lamps throughout your establishment, you could save several thousand pounds over their 20-year lifespan (and that’s assuming utility rates don’t rise).

The LED lighting we provide will get warm to the touch in normal operation at their connection points.
We can provide LED lamps with different colour spectra (including multi-coloured stage lighting, for example) for almost all situations. Please contact us with your specific requirements.
Simple answer: we can supply over 90% of the most commonly-used lamps, including specialist lighting (such as theatre/stage lighting, for example).
Contact us if you have a specific query regarding your lighting needs.
Yes. We’re aware that there are different floodlights for different scenarios, so we’ll discuss with you your particular requirements as needed.
